Where are my core dumps?

Hi all.
Despite I have setup "ulimit -c unlimited" at login, when a process dies with "Core dump" diagnostics I cannot find the core file in any place.
What am I missing?

Re: Where are my core dumps?

Wooow! I've lost a lot of details lately.
Thanks.
It looks there's no reliable way to delete core dumps from the journal without the risk of deleting other useful stuff.
I hope I am wrong.
Any extra hint for this?

In the meanwhile, I've studied a little bit the "man 5 core" and have changed the default behavior by setting

sudo sysctl kernel.core_pattern=%e.core

The actual effect I've got is that now the cores are dumped in my CWD as (for example) "myprog.core.14242" with PID no. appended.
This is compliant with the documentation (man 5 core "Naming of core dump files").
