GeForce 610M, nvidia-390xx: "NVRM: RmInitAdapter failed!"

I have a laptop using NVIDIA Optimus, with a GeForce 610M, and I'm trying to set up bumblebee.

Bumblebee was working the last time I needed this GPU. At the time I had `nvidia` installed. I just learned that my GPU is now supported by the `nvidia-390xx` legacy driver, and installed that one, but I'm no longer able to get Bumblee working.

`bbswitch` is on, and I tried to add a couple kernel parameters (`pcie_aspm=off rcutree.rcu_idle_gp_delay=1`) as suggested on many forums, but to no avail.

Any ideas?

I believe I might be happy with nouveau as well, but that's not doing better (I get `NOUVEAU(0): [drm] failed to set drm interface version`; I didn't manage to fix it and the ArchWiki bumblebee article says to just use nvidia).

Did you try to configure the system to exclusively use the nvidia GPU (to rule out a more general problem w/ the HW)?
Did you maybe switch it off in the BIOS?

I didn't consider the possibility of hardware problems. Haven't tried yet to disable the intel card. Will try it soon.

And I don't remember ever accessing the BIOS of this laptop in years.
