Which madwifi package?

The wiki says that there is a madwifi-ng package in the unstable repo.

If I look in the unstable repo on some of the mirrors then I can see madwifi-ng  - but there are a few pacakges: 1467-1 & -1, and 1497-1

If I search the packages using the form on www, then there is no madwifi-ng, only madwifi and madwifi-utils...  But  I can't find either of those in the mirrors...

I currently have no network access on my arch box so I have to download networking packages (and deps) manually and copy them over before installing them.

So - which should I download and are there any deps other than the kernel and wireless-utils...?

Re: Which madwifi package?

Mirror probably wasn't sync'd - try again, using madwifi and madwifi-utils

pacman -Sy madwifi

Re: Which madwifi package?

As I said - I have no network access until I sort my wireless out so a simple pacman won't work...

Are those pacakges in unstable or extra?

I've tried looking in extra on a couple of the mirrors and I'm not seeing those package there - even though the website lists them as being in extra...

Re: Which madwifi package?

OK - I've managed to install madwifi and madwifi-utils.

When I do an

lspci | grep Atheros

I get this following:

01:06.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications, Inc AR5212 802.11abg NIC rev 01)

This suggests to me that it's an atheros card and that madwifi is the way forward...

I've got the module loaded, but there is no device!  I've tried configuring it as ath0 (as per the wiki) and wlan0, but I've had no success...

Can anyone help me get beyond this...?

Re: Which madwifi package?

Apologies - I missed the part where your box didn't have net access.  Any packages in the repos can be obtained from ftp.archlinux.org; for instance, you can grab the madwifi packages here:

ftp://ftp.archlinux.org/extra/os/i686/m … pkg.tar.gz
ftp://ftp.archlinux.org/extra/os/i686/m … pkg.tar.gz

then install them with pacman -U on your arch machine.

-=edit=- Annnnd, then I go and miss the part where you've already installed them.

Just not my day.  Anywho, yes, the output of the dmesg | tail after modprobing ath_pci would help.
