I tried to upgrade this morning and wasn't able to because pyalpm wasn't found:

Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded. My work-around was to add the package to the IgnorePkg in /etc/pacman.conf.
Not sure that was a good idea but it "worked".
So two questions:
1) Is it reasonable to add a package to IgnorePkg to workaround such a problem?
2) Where else should I report the problem?
Thanks,
Wink

Please post the full output of the command as well as the command itself.

1. No. It's a terrible idea
2. It's not a "problem": your database is out-of-date, there is no 0.8.5-1
3. As loqs said, please paste full commands and output, not selectively truncated versions: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=57855

Sorry, no logs, I've reboot already. I looked in /var/log/pacman.log but it looks like it only contains "successful" upgrades. Is there someplace else the error logs might be?

27 hours upgpkg: pyalpm 0.8.5-2 jelle
47 hours upgpkg: pyalpm 0.8.5-1 jelleAre you sure you ran pacman -Syu ?
Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
clean chroot building not flexible enough ?
Try clean chroot manager by graysky

Just paste the pacman.log (the whole thing, not just the tail).

I've removed pyalpm from /etc/pacman.conf IgnorePkg and rerun the pacman:

Offline
0.8.5-1 no longer exists: your mirrors are out-of-date. Use reflector to generate an up-to-date list and -Syu.

So the problem appears to me to be that some mirrors haven't been updated yet and
my shortened mirrorlist was the problem. I've now added all the "US" https sites and
successfully upgraded.

Server = https://mirrors.ocf.berkeley.edu/archlinux/$repo/os/$archThe primary mirror which provides the database just synced successfully. It was the same one you were using initially so if it was still desynced you would not have resolved the issue as you did not change the mirror providing the database.
Offline
Based on what you're saying, the first "Server" provides the database and according to berkeley is the worst mirror I could have chosen!

Thanks for this thread, I did not know previously that the first server provides the database and was really confused. I was using Berkeley's mirror as well!
