Issue with microphones

So I am pretty new to Linux and all, so it might not be a great issue I have. But here it seems that my headset's mic  is not getting detected by Arch. I tried other headset and it was same. I know that it might be some hardware/driver issues, but is there any way to overcome it? I did tried

Re: Issue with microphones

Welcome to the boards

Please edit your post and wrap this and future command output in [ code ] tags. https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Co … s_and_code

There's a detected and active microphone, relatively low configured volume, you might want to up that. What are you using to test? Can you post

sudo fuser -v /dev/snd/*
amixer -c0
pacmd list-source-outputs

during active recording?

And yes, relatively low volume because otherwise others say that background noise is way too high, which is issue for my laptop's mic I guess, that's one reason I wanna use mic of my headset

Re: Issue with microphones

Ah so your problem is that the internal mic works, but the headset mic doesn't? Which laptop is this exactly? FWIW incidentally, it looks like the 5.0.6 kernel contains a lot of detection fixes for these kinds of issues, so that might be fixed by that.

Re: Issue with microphones

Sorry but I am bumping this post. I was kinda busy with something, and nope, updating kernel didn't seem to help me
