I have earlier around a year ago installed arch by default archlinux installation iso. I could even test that my computer has uefi by typing
efivars -l
and I get bunch of lines.
The problem is that when I now try to boot on UEFI mode from the installation media my screen just goes black. When I boot it on legacy mode it seems to work. What would cause this? How to check more info?
Laptop model is hp 820 g2
SOLVED: Had to do the dd command twice

What would cause this?
Regression in the EFI framebuffer, perhaps?
You could try some of the old ISO images to narrow down when it stopped working for you:
https://archive.archlinux.org/iso/
I think it should be OK to install from one of the older images but check the news page for any upgrade interventions that may be needed.
Or install in Legacy mode and convert to UEFI later.

If kernel paramater acpi_backlight=vendor does not work would install from old ISO as Head_on_a_Stick suggests.
and either use the linux-lts kernel or an older version of the kernel from the ALA.

Actually now that I try installation seems to work on legacy mode (When I enable bios legacy mode instead of UEFI.
Probably I need to try something like nomodeset?
UEFI mode doesnt seem to work even on my desktop. It just hangs and even my keyboard the numlock doesnt turn off from the key when I choose to boot the uefi mode. Yet my motherboard seems to have UEFI option.
Tried adding
nomodeset i915.modeset=0 nouveau.modeset=0
still no success.

Yay!
How do you convert from legacy to UEFI?
Mount the ESP then run the UEFI grub-install command with the --removable flag.
