Hello, ever since I switched to an 82599ES Fujitsu Intel 10gb NIC, I constantly get these messages in dmesg.
Especially just after boot, it is just constantly flaps, then settles down for a while but never stops. What is wrong with my setup?

I'm observing the same issue (frequent link/ups after boot and resume from standby for about 10 minutes, then just sproadically but also clustered) with an Intel X520-DA2 in my desktop. The HP NC560SFP+ in my NAS runs without problems. Both are Intel 82599ES chips, both are connected to a Mikrotik CRS305, though the desktop with a set of fs.com SFP-10G-LRM transceivers and the NAS with a Cisco AOC. (I'm not 100% sure the cable is completely undamaged, though)
Looking around, this seems to be fairly common. Did you ever solve it, rootpeer?

Updating the firmware on the card seems to have solved the problem. It was on 14.5.8 before and now is 19.5.12 (ethtool -i: firmware-version: 0x8000095d, 19.5.12). (FWIW, the HP card has a completely different firmware version, as reported by ethtool -i: firmware-version: 0x80000835, 1.1200.0)
The update went smoothly with the following steps:
- Boot live Xubuntu system (the update tool requested I set iomem=relaxed when running on my Arch system, so I figured that'd be the safe route)
- Download the Intel driver updater for Linux from the Dell website: https://www.dell.com/support/home/de-de … erid=40ntk
- Extract the contained tar with
binwalk -e Network_Firmware_40NTK_LN_19.5.12_A00.BIN && cd _Network_Firmware_40NTK_LN_19.5.12_A00.BIN.extracted && tar xv < 152BD
- Run l64/nvmupdate64e as root and follow instructions on screen. The updater did report an Update available for my card no problem
- Verify the new firmware version with ethtool -i net0

Nevermind, that did not help after all
Edit 2:
After leaving it off over night and/or moving the SFP module to the other slot on the card the problem is gone
