Firefox flickering under i3wm with nvidia

Hello,

I am having some problems with firefox lately since I changed to i3 from Gnome Shell. When scrolling, the pages flicker.

Here is my nvidia card:

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GP107 [GeForce GTX 1050] (rev a1)
Subsystem: Micro-Star International Co., Ltd. [MSI] GP107 [GeForce GTX 1050]
	Kernel driver in use: nvidia

I looked at the wiki and tried the indicated settings but without any luck. It seems to me it helped a little but unfortunately not completely.

You can find the log here.

I am not using compton or any other compositor and I only have one monitor.

Thank you very much in advance for any help.

Re: Firefox flickering under i3wm with nvidia

that's probably because gnome shell compositor takes care of the vsync. You may try to enable triplebuffering in your xorg conf (Option         "TripleBuffer" "on") but I doubt it would help.

Also "ForceFullCompositionPipeline=On" already implies "ForceCompositionPipeline", the wiki is "wrong" (stylistically).

Sorry, I forgot to precise that the option was already enabled.

I also looked at this post, but unfortunately it didn't help me much. But I'll do some further investigation.

Re: Firefox flickering under i3wm with nvidia

Did you try to disable smooth scrolling in firefox? (It's the only good information in that thread atm. If this works for you as well, you're in the same boat)

Re: Firefox flickering under i3wm with nvidia

Thank you for your quick response. Indeed, disabling the smooth scrolling seems to "fix" the problem.

Be careful, it's "TripleBuffer", you misspelled it "TrippleBuffer"

Thanks. Sorry didn't pay attention.

Re: Firefox flickering under i3wm with nvidia

I'd suggest to report this thread for binning as dupe and continue on the older one.
