Hello!
I wanted to write the archlinux iso to the usb drive but I wanted some space left on the drive to store some data.
I folowed the in structions given on https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/US … formatting
I've sent all the files from the iso to the usb but I'm confused after this step.
There are many ways given to do things.
I followed the first one and added the label to the partition (ARCH_201905) and I also added the boot flag usiing Gparted
I tried to boot but it didn't work
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

Did you partition the drive as MBR or as GPT disk ?
If MBR many modern systems will boot it in legacy (aka bios or Compatibility ) mode.
the archlinux iso requires syslinux to be configured for this type of boot to work, did you configured syslinux manually as stated ?
Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
clean chroot building not flexible enough ?
Try clean chroot manager by graysky

I partitioned it as a GPT disk and I have a BIOS motherboard.

Then the question becomes : Is your motherboard capable of booting a gpt partioned disk ?
What is brand and model of your motherboard ?
Does the usb device boot on other systems ?

It's a generic motherboard. It's a G41. It's from american megatrends. It's capabilities are: isa pci pnp upgrade shadowing escd cdboot bootselect socketedrom edd int13floppy1200 int13floppy720 int13floppy2880 int5printscreen int9keyboard int14serial int17printer int10video acpi usb ls120boot zipboot biosbootspecification
It's all the info I could get.

If it's that old of a motherboard that it has no sense of UEFI it's also very unlikely to be able to boot GPT formatted disks. You will likely have to switch it to MBR

OK I've switched it to MBR and followed the steps again. It doesn't boot. Am I supposed To follow the syslinux instructions? I Tried to follow them but the files already exist.

Please post exactly what you tried and the verbatim error message that resulted.

Have you checked if your LABEL & boot flag were applied correctly?
