Hi, can someone please tell me the meaning of files that end in -git? For example, I searched in a Terminal for "xcb-imdkit" then pressed tab. xcb-imdkit comes up, as well as "xcb-imdkit-git". Can you please tell me the significance of this -git ending? I searched online for an answer, but I guess it is too weird of a question.
Thank you in advance, and have a wonderful day.

Why do you think there is any significance to the -git suffix? It's just one of the possible completions that have been detected. Since you mention file names, I assume you have local files or directory with these names, but since you haven't told us which command you are completing, we can't give you any definitive answers.
Mod note: moving to NC.

Please describe in more detail how you "searched in a Terminal". A terminal is just a window that allows a user to interact with text-based programs (such as a shell or other command line interfaces), so we need more information about what exactly you did, what commands you typed, what was already typed out when you hit Tab, …
Of course, based on the context, we can guess what you probably meant, but let's make this an exercise in describing your problem accurately ![]()
