I have just installed a fresh arch install on my laptop, and I've been trying to get up the graphical interface (Xorg) to work. I'm using dwm as my window manager and I've already placed "exec dwm" in my .xinitrc file.
The issue is that when I type in "startx" or some other commands (such as lspci | grep -e VGA -e 3D), my laptop will just shut down immediately.
Please help, and thank you in advance.

I installed arch on an UEFI system and everything works as normal except for what I have just mentioned.

Yes it does!
I just tried adding the kernel parameters like it suggests, it stopped crashing when i ran startx but then the xorg server would still crash and not start. It would report back that there is an error regarding the keyboard or something. I'm using a GB locale and UK keyboard.
Then I decided to remove DISPLAY=foo.bar:1 from my xinitrc file, then my laptop shut off again.

This is a link to a picture of my screen that shows my error.

Please post the output of dmesg and your xorg log.
You can use https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pastebin to do this from a CLI context.

Your xorg log, not the output of startx.
Also "startx 2>&1 | curl …" but that's besides the point.
Edit: also how do you attempt to configure the optimus system?
