Unable to build steam-native-pcre-fix

I accidentally broke my DE, so I had to reinstall Arch. And now when I'm trying to install the steam "hack" for Arch, I get these errors:

Unable to build steam-native-pcre-fix

and

(translating from my language)

Unable to fetch file 'lib32-libwebp-1.0.2-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz' from mirror [mirror-address]

I added US and UK mirror lists thinking that problably the Bulgarian mirrors have died but I get the same error from them as well.

That version is no longer in repos, see https://www.archlinux.org/packages/mult … 2-libwebp/

Run pacman -Syu, if that doesn't help check the status of your mirror(s), https://www.archlinux.org/mirrors/status/

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

Re: Unable to build steam-native-pcre-fix

I can see that. But the building process of the steam "hack" requires v1.0.2, not 1.0.3. And IDK how to make it look for 1.0.3.

Re: Unable to build steam-native-pcre-fix

You make it look for 1.0.3 by running pacman -Syu, as Lone_Wolf stated.

Edit: I realize you might misunderstand how this works. The AUR package does not look for a specific version. It is only looking for packages. You local package database is where the version number is stored. This is good as it prevents you from breaking your system if you install a new package without updating first. However, as time goes on, old packages will eventually be deleted from package mirrors. This will prevent you from even installing a new package, which is the problem you have encountered. When you perform a full system update, your local package database will be synced with your chosen mirror to point to the current versions, which will then let you install the package in question.

So in short, update your system and you will be able to build this package.

Re: Unable to build steam-native-pcre-fix

Rather than using the 'hack' steam can now be launched by passing STEAM_RUNTIME_HEAVY=1 as an environment variable. cool
