Keyboard and mouse stalling after update

After a recent system update my keyboard and mouse freeze. The cpu and memory remain low so it can't be related to over-utilization. I can move the touchpad continuously until I let go, and then when I let go and try to move it again, the cursor will no longer be responsive for and then it will start working again after a few seconds. Typing is similar, I can type into the terminal and nothing will show on the screen for a while. Then I'll type a few more more keys and everything I typed into the terminal will show up.

Are there any ideas as to what this could be?

Thanks,

Re: Keyboard and mouse stalling after update

Welcome to the boards, actualeyes

This needs more information, which environment, which graphics setup, which graphics drivers, logs, etc. https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=57855

Post a xorg and journal log from an affected session.

Mod note: Moving to NC

Re: Keyboard and mouse stalling after update

Hi V1del,

Thanks for your help. At this point it's a newly installed partition (I blew away my old installation and it's still broken) and I do not even have Xorg installed. Cd boot with chroot works fine. ssh into the machine works fine. As soon as I boot into the machine itself at the terminal typing output displays intermittently.

Here's my hardware info

If you aren't running X, post the relevant journal.

I compared my journal of the affected system to my other machine and one difference is that all the IRQS are disabled.

Re: Keyboard and mouse stalling after update

Hi Seth,

Adding that boot parameter works. It looks like I'll have no GPU until a patch is made, but my machine's up and running.

Thanks Everyone.

Re: Keyboard and mouse stalling after update

That does not disable your GPU at all: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/In … flickering

Edit: Please always remember to mark resolved threads by editing your initial posts subject - so others will know that there's no task left, but maybe a solution to find.
Thanks.
