Hello,
Currently I'm trying to change the lock screen of my Archlinux VM with i3wm. Just after the installation of Archlinux I installed lightdm and lightdm-gtk-greeter. However, it turns out that the latter is rather ugly. So I started looking for something more esthetic. First I tried to install lightdm-unity-greeter with pacman and yaourt but nothing to do. I have a problem in the installation.
Then out of despair I decided to settle for the ones we were offered with:
pacman -Ss lightdm So I decided to switch to lightdm-webkit2-greeter which is my faith not too bad after all. I can execute it directly via the terminal. This launches a window with the webkit2 identification screen. However, when I change
session-greeter = lightdm-gtk-greeterin the lightdm.conf file by
session-greeter = lightdm-webkit2-greeterthen restart my VM or i3wm. This doesn't change anything and gtk remains by default the lock screen of my VM. I did a lot of research but I found no one who seems to have my problem on the forums. No matter how hard I try, follow the steps one by one but I can't find the problem. I have the impression that this is due to an oversight on my part. But I really have no idea where this could come from. Maybe I should uninstall lightdm-gtk-greeter?
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thank you in advance for your answers.

lightdm-webkit2-greeter is not provided by the package you installed, it is it's own package. Have you installed it?
I'm not sure how your title relates at all to your post. Please edit your first post to revise your title. You probably want to include lightdm greeter in your title, e.g., "Cannot set lightdm-webkit2-greeter as default".

Sorry, it's true I didn't bring much precision to that. But it was more because I had given up the idea of installing unity. After that, if anyone knows the solution, I'm still interested. So I'll go into more detail. First of all, I tried to install lightdm-unity-greeter with pacman but it doesn't know it. Then I tried it with yaourt and this time it starts the installation.
This is what it shows me and what I did (I have a bit simplified) :
yaourt lightdm-unity-greeter1 aur/lightdm-unity-greeter 16.10.2.2-1 (Out od Date) (22) (0.00)
===> Enter n° of packages to be installed
===> 1===>Edit PKGBUILD ? [Y/n]
===> n===> Continue building lightdm-unity-greeter ? [Y/n]
===> Y===> Edit PKGBUILD ? [Y/n]
===> n===> Continue building ido-ubuntu ? [Y/n]
===> Y And after that, there is a lot of checking before unlocking a fatal error: no such file or directory. I'm trying to reach you with the picture below.
Otherwise, as far as wbekit2 is concerned, I also misspoke. The command :
sudo pacman -Ss lightdmallows me to see all greeters and other downloadable features with pacman (from what I've seen on the Internet). Only after that, I did:
sudo pacman -S lightdm-webkit2-greeter.webkit2 is well downloaded since I can launch it with
lightdm-webkit2-greeterand it also appears in my usr/share/xgreeters/ folder like lightdm-webkit2-greeter.desktop beside lightdm-gtk-greeter.desktop
Sorry if my English isn't great. I am French and to go faster I use a translator (deepl).
Thank you for your answers. I hope I have brought more precision.

Please post text as text not as a screenshot. Installing an unity greeter would mandate installing an outdated and patched GTK version, which isn't something you should generally pursue.
FWIW post after booting into lightdm configured to use webkit2, the output of
sudo journalctl -b --unit=lightdmLast edited by V1del (2019-08-25 14:51:32)
