I connect my desktop computer to the internet using a router with ddwrt to receive wifi. Recently I've started losing Internet after a few moments. When this happens, I have to pkill dhcpcd and then rerun it, but I lose Internet after a few moments every time. I believe that this is happening because of an unstable Internet connection since it does this when it momentarily loses the connection and I recently moved to a place with a less reliable Internet connection, but I can't figure out a way to prevent it from losing Internet altogether and having to rerun dhcpcd when this happens. I've checked and double checked all of my settings already and am at a loss. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

How are you managing your network connection?

I just use dhcpcd to connect through an ethernet connection from the ddwrt router acting as a client bridge.
[edit] I just tried setting systemd-networkd to manage the network and the same problem persisted.

Then this does not seem to be an arch linux issue, but a ddwrt one.

So you have a wired connection to the ddwrt system which connects to a wireless network? Or do you connect wirelessly to the ddwrt system? In any case, it sounds like your arch system is not losing it's connectivity, but that your ddwrt system is. If this is the case, you should troubleshoot that system on the appropriate support channels.

How exactly do you determine that you "lose internet"?

Yes, it's a wired connection to the ddwrt system which connects to the wireless network. When I connect anything else (such as a laptop running Windows) to the router it keeps an Internet connection just fine, which is why I assumed that the issue was my linux system.

I'm unable to ping or otherwise access anything on the Internet.

What's the actual ping command and error? Can you ping IP addresses?

If I ping a web site or IP address using the ping command (ping google.com) it just hangs with no output.

Any stale leases in the router?
Also, did you try to reboot the router?

None that I can see and yes.
