PDFs not rendering correctly in chrome/chromium

Hi,

I've been having an issue recently where certain PDFs render unreadably "squished" fonts when opened in chrome or chromium. Here you can see the PDF in gnome's pdf viewer, and here you can see what it looks like in chromium. This also happens if I view it with no extensions/in incognito.

I wouldn't be surprised if I incorrectly set up some fonts, but I wouldn't know where to look.

I wouldn't know how to debug chromium but you can consider using google-chrome from AUR instead.

Re: PDFs not rendering correctly in chrome/chromium

This is a problem with both google-chrome and chromium.

Oh I see. Then it must an issue from your system since I don't experience it with my google-chrome. I'll see what I can find out.

Re: PDFs not rendering correctly in chrome/chromium

Are you using any special font configuration,in particular a different BCI implementation chromium's sandbox ignores your environment variables and likely also parts of your font configuration for sandboxing purposes.

Re: PDFs not rendering correctly in chrome/chromium

I had a similar problem as visualised in this thread here: https://superuser.com/questions/1235124 … ncorrectly

The solution for me was to remove the 'Alien League Tech' font. YMMV.
