Samba print ask for credentials

Hi,

I have a Brother HL-2140 printer USB connected to a RPI that I use to share the printer on my home network. On Debian, I add this printer as a Samba printer through system-config-printer and it works just fine (after installing smb-client).
For some reason, doing the same thing on arch doesn't work: each time I print a test page, I'm being asked for credentials. However, I haven't set any, so it should not ask for any credentials...
I don't know what kind of info you may need to help me out with this issue, so don't hesitate to ask for some.

It may be asking for local user authentication, try root as username and your archlinux root password.

Do you have cups-pk-helper installed ?

Sidenote :
There are other/better ways to share printers then samba, have you read https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/CU … er_sharing ?

The thing is that I only have a notification saying something like "Authentication needed for HL-2140 printer. Credentials needed to print". But there is nowhere I can enter those credentials. It the printer queue, I see that the task is "maintained for authentication". If I right click on it, it the list of possibilities, there is "Authentication". But nothing happens when I click on it.

I've tried installing my network printer through ipp but each time I do that, I get an error saying that the ppd is corrupted.

No.

To be clear, there are two different issues here. The first one is the samba one. The second one is the ipp one.

When I use system-config-printer, and click on Find network printer, it does find my printer.

If I choose the samba solution, I don't have any issue with the ppd file. The problem is that, as I have explained, it says that it needs credentials to print, whereas I haven't set any on the server.

If I choose the ipp solution, I'm not even being asked for a ppd. Then when I validate, I have this "ppd is corrupted" message. ANd I get this in the terminal:
