EDIT: Problem seems to have resolved itself unexpectedly, possibly after suspend?
(forked from other thread as instructed)
When I plug an HDMI cable into my laptop, it does not register that there is an audio output device. I have checked this both via GNOME's audio output menu and also pactl list-sinks, which only lists my builtin speakers. This was working yesterday, but stopped working after an update-reboot.
