X looks to be working now. So the next issue is probably in lightdm. When you chose the lightdm-webkit2-greeter did you configure lightdm to use that greeter?
Please post the contents of /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf

lightdm.conf looks fine what is the contents of /var/log/lightdm/lightdm.log now?
Edit:
Just to check when you switched the greeter to lightdm-gtk-greeter you did install the lightdm-gtk-greeter package?

I can not spot any issues from lightdm.log. The greeter is started and is waiting for a password.

could it be a problem with openbox?

I would not have thought openbox would be a factor as it would only start after the greeter and would expect to see something similar to the following in /var/log/lightdm/lightdm.log

Have you seen https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Li … n_flashing? And please read the rest of that page because it seems like you're relying on the goodwill of the helpers to do your legwork, which isn't cool.
Can you start openbox from a console screen?
Use the systemd.unit=multi-user.target kernel parameter to disable LightDM temporarily[1] then log in as your normal user and run
startx /usr/bin/openbox-sessionDoes that work?
LightDM is a poor choice of display manager anyway because it runs X as root. GDM or startx from a console login are both better solutions.

Hi yes you are right I am sorry, I only picked up Linux a few days ago and have no idea what im doing,
I ran
systemctl disable lightmdI don't know if this is what you meant, I then tried to run
startx /usr/bin/openbox-session but it said that startx command was not found
I also looked in my xsessions directory and it was blank, I think there aee supposed to be .desktop files in there but im not sure how to add them

but it said that startx command was not found
So you'll need to install it.
See https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pkgfile, which helps you figure out what package to install when you need a given program. It's an important tool and well worth learning.
