When I try to play any youtube video by youtube-viewer it finds link to video and video description, but fail to play and return error to console and quit:
Error parsing commandline option audio-file: option requires parameter
Exiting... (Fatal error)
I didn't used youtube-viewer recently, so I can't say after which update it stopped play, but it was playing in December 2019 for sure.

I don't know, but I do know the current Arch Linux package is flagged as out of date, and I know that Google made a change to YouTube just a few days ago that caused my player on Android (NewPipe) to stop working.
So, I just wanted to let you know, it's probably not your fault, and an update with a fix will be released soon.

Thanks for info. Than I will wait for youtube-viewer update and use other progs for now.

I think the problem is the last mpv update.
Another example I found today:
$ mpv --playlist file.text
Error parsing commandline option playlist: option requires parameter
Exiting... (Fatal error)

Now we need a = after playlist option:
mpv --playlist=file.text

@loqs
Amazing, how did you find out that it is mpv related? Mplayer was used by default with youtube-viewer and I changed to mpv which was recently updated and indeed mess things. Now changed back to mplayer and it play videos (but with some minor error):
do_connect: could not connect to socket
connect: No such file or directory
But with mplayer videos can't be rewind forward or backward because mplayer suddenly quit playing (that wasn't the case when I try it before change to mpv in previous year), so it's another bug.
So I try last supported by youtube-viewer player vlc, but it play garbage (distorted video).
So situation for me is not ideal; if with mplayer I could rewind forward or backward videos (or mpv would work once again youtube-viewer) I would mark thread as solved, but in that case I will not.

You could build youtube-viewer 3.7.2 locally.

No need to rebuild: I changed youtube-viewer config file in .config/youtube-viewer/youtube-viewer.conf and in mpv options remove space and add instead sign '=' before TITLE, AUDIO and SUB.
Now it play videos without error, like before, so I mark thread as solved.
