Pulseaudio profiles missing

Hello,
I'm missing many profiles (in pavucontrol) for my Audigy ES sound card. I'm only worried about the "Analog Stereo Output + Analog Mono Input" profile, however it is peculiar that many other profiles are missing that used to be present. The built-in soundcard seems to have all profiles present, but marked as (unavailable), and they cannot be selected.

The issue has appeared with the PA 13 update back in September, where among other things they "improved initial profile selection" and "automatically switching away from unavailable profiles" (doesn't look like it's supposed to break anything though). It has persisted through reinstallation and deleting config files. My configuration right now is the default.

Everything seems to be fine on the ALSA side: when i unmute the 'Mic' playback channel on the soundcard, the sound is normal. However, when i add the capture device manually in default.pa (or select it manually through alsa in apps such as audacity), the sampling rate is wrong and the sound is very high pitch as a result.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Pulseaudio profiles missing

Because we don't see what you see we need some more actable information like

aplay -l
amixer -c$cardindex of card in question$
pacmd list-cards
pacmd list-sinks

in [ code ] [ /code ] tags without the spaces.

FWIW audigy ES rings a bell, are you sure it was the pulse update and not rather an alsa-lib change? See for example: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 1#p1887411 (maybe read the rest of the thread for potential BG info but pay attention to that post in particular)

Re: Pulseaudio profiles missing

Here's the info you asked for.

However, when i tried the config as in https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 1#p1887411 the card went missing altogether from listed cards (I made sure to use the correct vendor and device ID). Moreover, it seems in that topic the 'stereo output + mono input' profile is available.

Re: Pulseaudio profiles missing

for my USB audio interface "Motu M2" also most profiles disappeared from pavucontrol. only

analog input
digital input
analog output
digital output

are left missing the duplex profiles. i have the device since end of january and the duplex profiles were present at that time. no idea what might have led to the profiles dissappearing, also cannot specify when it happened. in february i used the device on a windows machine, maybe the driver installation process updated the firmware but the firmware update instructions of the manufacturer do not support that theory. firmware version right now is 1.01, there is a later version 1.02 i did not install so far.

Re: Pulseaudio profiles missing

ok, puleglot from the linuxmusicians.com forum pointed out that my issue is a known, device specific alsa thing:
