VMware Workstation install fail

I followed the archwiki instructions to install VMware of Package build for x86_64.
After load the VMware modules:
modprobe -a vmw_vmci vmmon
shows:

modprobe: ERROR: could not insert 'vmmon': Invalid argument

sudo depmod shows:

depmod: ERROR: failed to load symbols from /lib/modules/5.6.3-arch1-1/kernel/drivers/misc/vmmon.ko.xz: Invalid argument
depmod: ERROR: failed to load symbols from /lib/modules/5.6.3-arch1-1/kernel/drivers/net/vmnet.ko.xz: Invalid argument

uname -r shows:

 5.6.3-arch1-1

that make me confuse, is there any other information needed?

Re: VMware Workstation install fail

You did install the headers for your kernel ?

Does rebooting make a difference ?

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

Re: VMware Workstation install fail

Hi OP, I got VMware player 15 working just today.

I noticed the exact same issue when I installed from the AUR.

What I did instead was just installed via the script from the official VMware website, this one: VMware-Player-15.5.2-15785246.x86_64.bundle

Also just be sure to create your ect/init.d folder so you get the vmware executable in the correct place. I'm on lts kernel though so I dunno if this will work for you, but maybe you can just try it if you need vmware right away.

And now you have software on your system that is unmanaged by pacman.
I do hope you followed https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/VM … are_bundle and installed in /usr/local ?
