My pc does the same thing like Suk's, but I managed to boot doing this:
scroll down at grub as if you'd choose the fallback session but don't actually choose it.
Wait for 5 seconds or so and choose the normal session.
As I've said I manageg to boot but I cant launch xterm or any browser.
Thunar, gimp, etc launch ok.
Switching to a tty and giving
systemctl get-default
returns
graphical.target
Which journal would you like me to post?
Also, after trying to run vivaldi and opera with no success, I turned to tty and took a photo of the last messages of dmesg

Doesn't look like anything of system level relevance goes wrong on your system. FWIW you seem to have enabled two dhcpcd variants which fight over the same interface, disable one of them. For your browser issues, how did you handle the news item? if you didn't do what's mentioned there do so with a
pacman -Syu nss --overwrite /usr/lib\*/p11-kit-trust.so, if the crashes continue, check and post core dump traces

The chromium/opera stacktrace reads like an issue that's very prevalent with old microcode versions and you don't have them set up. This can lead to all sorts of issues with multi-threaded applications.

Ok, I installed the intel-ucode package and run the grub-mkconfig command.
Rebooted and the pc was stuck again, just like SUK's in the other thread, ie after 'starting version... dev/sda2 clean...' just an empty screen with a blinking cursor.
Tried a second time and I managed to boot; nothing's changed, I still can't launch xterm, vivaldi, etc.

How is X started on the system? Is xterm coredumping or just exiting? The journals you posted do not contain records for it coredumping that I could see.

The coredumps we've seen are from chromium, vivaldi & opera which are all electron (and there's also /usr/lib/electron7/electron)
a)
How is X started on the system?
b) How do you attemp to start xterm?
c) Are other programs affected? Tried another VTE?
d) https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/St … ing_memory
e) Try to install the 390xx nvidia driver (from AUR, use the dkms kernel package)
f) remove the stupid "quiet" parameter from the kernel to hopefully get a better idea where the boot actually stalls

I was getting an answer ready for you (painfully slow) on my phone, when I remembered what V1del told me about the two conflicting dhcpcd services on my system.
Indeed, I had both
dhcpcd.service
dhcpcd@enp4s1.serviceenabled.
I disabled the first one, kept the second one and all apps launch now.
I'll monitor the boot process and report back if any more problems arise.
Now, I can understand the pc not booting because of the conflicting dhcpcd services; but xterm, or vs-code not launching?
Why now? I enabled these conflicting services some 2 years ago and forgot about them, what happened now?
Thanks for your support and answers everyone.
EDIT:
Ok, I did a reboot and I got a message before shutting down that said that the system was waiting for dhcpcd service on enp4s1 to shutdown. It waited for a minute and a half and then rebooted.
I can now remember that I had this problem some time ago and the solution I found was to enable the dhcpcd.service, it's just that I had forgotten to disable the dhcpcd@enp4s1.service one. So I did disable the latter, enabled the former and everything works fine now. I even did 3-4 reboots and all's well. My previous questions still apply though...
Thanks again.

Technically communication between xorg and it's clients also happen over the network (but in the normal case that just happens locally on your system). Issues in that regard commonly happen with changing hostnames between networks though that doesn't seem to be the case here. I do wonder what changed in dhcpcd that it could have this much of a far reaching effect (though in any case one is always in undefined territory with conflicting service accesses like here, so this might just be an incidental fallout)
Offline
Thanks, it was by far my strangest experience with Arch.
If you hadn't mentioned the conflicting services issue, I might have gone for a new installation.
Something was very odd with the latest dhcpcd update.
EDIT: xterm, vs-code, all browsers and thunderbird didn't work. However, everything else worked fine: thunar, geany, transmission, libreoffice, amule, vlc, mpv, gimp, google earth pro, etc.

Are we positive about xterm? Ie. did your text shell (bash) work in a different VTE?
Offline
I did try different vtes, still the same results.
I was getting ready to post a report when the conflicting services idea hit me.

Then it's more likely related to your shell, what about "xterm -hold -e date"?

It works fine, ie. it launches a new xterm window with the date on it.

So it's your shell, probably something in your bashrc.
Do the browsers work after the dhcpcd cleanup?
