Lost my sound card after plugging the webcam in

Hi everyone!

I had sound working (adjusting volumes by using alsamixer), and every time I'd plug the USB webcam in, I'd lose the sound card (alsamixer would only show the webcam microphone), but I'd remove the webcam and reboot and all was back to normal. So I did some reading and ended up doing what's suggested here: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 56#p660056

The above step didn't fix the issue (webcam is still the only thing that comes up in alsamixer), but now even with the webcam removed, alsamixer can't find the sound card.  I've removed the change above, no sound card. Updated to latest kernel, no sound card. Booted into Ubuntu live, still no sound card.

The only interesting thing is see is:

[ 11.095879] snd_hda_intel 0000:00:1b.0: CORB reset timeout#2, CORBRP = 65535
[ 11.095918] hdaudio hdaudioC0D0: no AFG or MFG node found
[ 11.095925] hdaudio hdaudioC0D1: no AFG or MFG node found
[ 11.095930] hdaudio hdaudioC0D2: no AFG or MFG node found
[ 11.095934] hdaudio hdaudioC0D3: no AFG or MFG node found
[ 11.095937] snd_hda_intel 0000:00:1b.0: no codecs initialized

Other no so interesting things:

# aplay -l
aplay: device_list:274: no soundcards found...
# alsactl init
alsactl: init:1759: No soundcards found...
# lspci -v | grep -i snd
	Kernel driver in use: snd_hda_intel
	Kernel modules: snd_hda_intel
# lspci -v | grep -i audio
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801JI (ICH10 Family) HD Audio Controller

I guess my question is... is my sound card fried?

Re: Lost my sound card after plugging the webcam in

A bit weird, but at some point my machine failed to boot with a bit of a cryptic message mentioning FireWire. I took the FireWire card out and the sound card came back.
