[SOLVED] Team Fortress 2 geometry errors after update

Hey guys,

Yesterday I updated my arch install (for the first time in about a month), which included kernel updates. Now tf2 has black geometry errors present whenever the game tries to render other users.

Here is what I'm talking about: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aEtEAVHPvlE

Steam-native does not fix this issue.

I have 7HUD and comanglias FPS config installed, however other config files and no config file at all both result in the same problem.

CPU: Ryzen 2600
GPU: Radeon 5600XT

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Downgrading lib32-mesa to 20.1.8 fixed the issue for me

icewind1991 , janga69420 :

You do realise you're now running unsupported partial upgrades  ?

Also 20.1.8 is not the latest version of the mesa 20.1.x branch , see https://docs.mesa3d.org/relnotes/20.1.9.html

Re: [SOLVED] Team Fortress 2 geometry errors after update

Im sort of bringing back an old thread sorry, however this is relevant.

I did a pacman -Syu today, and I realised this upgraded lib32-mesa to 20.2.3

I went to downgrade it again, and now steam wont launch unless lib32-mesa is at version 20.2.x, and this is specifically the version which is causing the problem in the OP. Does anyone know how to launch steam on an old verison of lib32-mesa or how to fix lib32-mesa so it doesnt produce graphical errors which make Team Fortress 2 unplayable?

Re: [SOLVED] Team Fortress 2 geometry errors after update

Without logs or terminal outputs it's hard to troubleshoot (youtube vids may help to demonstrate the issue, but that's all)

https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/mes … h=fortress shows 10 bugs, 1 of which was closed recently.

I suggest you check them to see if they match your issue.

About downgrading :
mesa and lib32-mesa needs to be the same version .
Things change fast on archlinux and using older binaries from pacman cache or archlinux Archive are prone to failure.

Building an older version locally would be the best solution .
If you want to go that way, first determine which version you want.
Then start a new thread in creating & modifying board.
