[SOLVED]various errors after running Rsync on root partition

hello

i was trying to backup my root partition to an external harddisk yesterday. i did a dry run and everything ran fine. i stopped the actual run as the system was copying numerous files from cache, and i had not figured out how to exclude the cache files.

the shutdown process was normal but today when i rebooted the system, i encountered various errors, including the laptop battery being undetected

What was the actual rsync command used? As long as it was actually only writing to the external drive, there is no way that it could be responsible for these symptoms and is likely just a coincidence.

Note, there is no command "journal", you were looking for journalctl.

And I gather your systemctl command included the word "output" at the end as that will generate an error, though slightly different from the one you posted; are you manually translating output from another locale / language? EDIT: I suppose a different version of systemd might be a better explanation for the difference in the error message - is your system up to date?

Overall, please be sure to post the commands and output exactly as entered.

the first command ran successfully

the second command was in the midst of running when i noticed it seemed to be copying an endless number of cache files from the palemoon browser(i was browsing the web at the time of the backup)

the third command i modified many times in order to exclude the cache folders, but was not successful. each time it showed something like "/home/lenovo/var change directory failed". basically all the /var, /run, /proc

I don't believe those rsync commands could be causally related to your symptoms. So the next step depends on a clear description of your symptoms - several of the diagnostic commands in your first post errored out because you typed them incorrectly, so we don't really know what's going on other than apparently not having a network connection. I can't really help with connman, but if that's the primary problem, you should edit your first post to change your title to that to attract attention from those who can help with it.

It looks like the connman errors are the same as those you posted a year ago. I assume you resolved the problems since then, right? What was the solution then?

Posting an actual journalctl output and list of enabled services would be helpful.

i was able to execute the command after installing archlinux to a different partition and dropping the argument

--include-from=include.txt
