[SOLVED] DNS resolution fails after avahi installation

DNS queries no longer resolve on my machine after installing avahi and enabling nss-switch, mdns, etc. I disabled mdns in systemd-resolved as instructed in the wiki (and then tried setting it to "resolve") and restarted all the relevant services (and my machine), but to no avail.

How can I troubleshoot this?

what does your nsswitch.conf look like?

It looks wrong! That was it: I forgot to include

mdns_minimal

as instructed in the wiki (I only added the [NOTFOUND=return] part).
