How can others know that I run Arch in the network and how can I hide?

How can other people in the network know if I run Arch? [Assume that my hostname does not mention Arch in any way] Also, how can I hide the fact that I run Arch?

Re: How can others know that I run Arch in the network and how can I hide?

In what scenario? Are other people on the network actively trying to discover your OS? In that case you can assume that they're sniffing your internet traffic so any connection to the Arch Linux mirrors would indicate that you're using Arch.

Just connecting to DHCP doesn't directly reveal the OS but there may be ways to determine it via fingerprinting: https://networkengineering.stackexchang … clients-os, but again someone would need to be actively targeting you for this to work.

Your browser's user agent string will reveal that you are using Linux and which architecture type, but not specifically Arch Linux. Other programs that connect to the network may also reveal information about your system. You would have to check each one to see what it reveals.

As for hiding that you run Arch, do you mean from someone looking at the screen over your shoulder? As long as you don't have an Arch logo on your screen or a visible terminal running pacman or other arch-specific commands, it shouldn't be obvious.
