Re: The Official Hello Everyone Thread

I'm an Arch Linux user for a couple of months now.

so HELLO EVERYONE!...

I'm from Serbia Currently a high school student, I'm interested in computers, java programming, web design, and open-source software, I'm 16 years old.
I enjoy using Arch Linux a lot and learning from my mistakes and problems, but I really hate the fact that I'm stuck with Nvidia laptop and I always have trouble getting drivers to work, and they do confuse me a lot.

Viktor.

Re: The Official Hello Everyone Thread

Hi, all!

I've been using Arch for about two months now, though I've been using Linux for a couple years. It's been a great experience overall, despite some hiccups, so I'm glad to have discovered this great distro.

Re: The Official Hello Everyone Thread

Hi everyone! smile

I have been using Arch since summer while I have been considering it for much longer.
Due to time limitation I stayed on Ubuntu as it would do me more harm than good to lose my data.

This community have been a great help and I figured it was about time I joined and possibly contributed.
I am learning quite a bit and only had to reinstall my OS once (Due to it crashing during a full system update)

Re: The Official Hello Everyone Thread

I've finally weened from Ubuntu into the ArchLinux world.

I wanted to understand GNU/Linux at a deeper level and also wanted the opportunity to setup a lighter weight Window Manager and customize my linux laptop. LFS was too much like reinventing the wheel, when I really wanted to take parts and assemble them. ArchLinux was the best option, and the documentation is out of this world !!!!  So I figured I had a shot at actually doing this, especially with the forums to fall back onto if absolutely necessary. The forums always seem to point people in the right direction but then allow the user the joy of discovery and learning. What a great community!

It took me a week or two, but I was finally able to boot into my Celeron laptop. What a blast! I learned tons and tons of information that I was clueless about before. There is still so so much that I don't know and understand, so I'm looking forward to the voyage.

Re: The Official Hello Everyone Thread

Hi there !

during the last 2 years I rediscovered Linux. Back in the 90ys I've used slackware. Started again with Ubuntu, but felt that this hides too much and takes too many decisions on behalf of the user. Now I'm on Arch and it feels good - got all the control back which was so much fun in the early days.

Re: The Official Hello Everyone Thread

Hello Archers :-)

I'm Felix. I live in Germany and Linux is fun to me.
First I started with Mint. That was an OK experience.
I'm still a newbie to arch, not knowing what's going on "behind", but I'm really interested to learn more about that.
Luke Smith and minimalist/extensible software ideas brought me here.

Thanks to the community and to you dear reader, for reading my "Hello to everyone" ;-)

Cheers.

Re: The Official Hello Everyone Thread

Hello,
I'm Gabriele from Italy, I'm a violin teacher and an Arch user since last year even if I'm Linux user since 2001, I tried and used several distribution, for study and for work.
I started with Debian Sarge, then Mandriva, Sabayon, Fedora, Slackware, but Arch is for now, the most stable Linux Distribution for my work.

The arch community is very important and so much constructive and useful.

Thank you to all
Have a good day
