From time to time, quite often actually, my internal speakers don't play any sound anymore now. Spotify tells me that it "can't play the current song", and other tools don't play sound anymore either. My bluetooth headphones still play sound when I switch to them. I think this is actually triggered when I switch to my headphones and then disconnect them after some time, but I can't reliably reproduce the issue.
I'm a bit embarrassed to admit this, but this started happening last week or so, when I tried to make the headset's microphone work by setting up ofono and phonesim as described in https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/bl … PulseAudio. I've since uninstalled both and I thought I also undid all config changes, but I must have missed something. When I run pulseaudio -v manually, there's the following line:
I: [pulseaudio] backend-ofono.c: Failed to register as a handsfree audio agent with ofono: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown: The name org.ofono was not provided by any .service files
I've completely deleted my ~/.config/pulse, grepped my homedir and /etc for ofono or phonesim and found no mentions.

The ofono line is normal wen pulse checks for availability.

Thanks! Now it's working, of course. I'll post again when the issue reappears.

Look especially at the fuser line in that event, it's very likely you have some other tool open that blocks the device from being accessed by pulse. You normally only want to see pulseaudio there, otherwise you have applications conflicting and fighting for the normal ALSA card. Bluetooth will still work in that event because it only exists as a pulse device.

The speakers kept working since my last post, but now my headset keeps disconnecting randomly. Often enough for it to be a serious problem during video calls. This is what that looks like in
journalctl -xe
