[SOLVED] missing error message

Hello,
i was checking journalctl today for errors, and I was told (here on the forums) that "errors" like

Feb 23 18:42:55 Samo-PCTP lightdm[484]: gkr-pam: unable to locate daemon control file

are not serious, however, this time an error without further explanation arrived: https://ctrlv.link/BUdT (link to a screenshot).

I actually tried to find if there are some "errors without actually showing the error message", but no success. All I found were some kernel errors, but none of them has similar behaviour than this one.

I tried restarting the computer, but each time during the boot, this shows up.

Does anyone know what may be wrong?

It's always best to enter the error message into a search engine: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=244965

Re: [SOLVED] missing error message

Apparently, this is the normal behavior although it remains unclear why a warning is produced if everything goes normally. I'd say that my system feels a lot cleaner since I got rid of lightdm (and login managers in general) and gnome-key-ring.

The unable to locate daemon control file is not the important one, now the one that matters is the kernel one - the one which has no error message after it, just ":" and blank space...

It used to contain "bad value for hidepid" which again, was considered as an unimportant error, now it has nothing.

I meant what packages were contained in that update?  Please also include their old versions and new versions.

Is there any way I I can show you e.g. a of this? If it is logged somewhere, may you tell me where because all I can tell is that there was a Linux-LTS update. to version 5.10.17-1.
^^ I tried finding errors/bugs in that version, no success.

/var/log/pacman.log contains all pacman operations.  If you post all of it I will search through it or search backward for the previous linux-lts version.
If you missed the 5.10.16 update so linux-lts went from 5.4.98 to 5.10.17 that big update would seem more likely to introduce such a change than from 5.10.16 to 5.10.17.

Re: [SOLVED] missing error message

Please try adding the following to kernel parameters from the boot loader:

module_blacklist=nvidia,nvidia_drm,nvidia_modeset systemd.unit=multi-user.target

That will stop the nvidia modules loading and boot the system to multi-user.target.  You can then reboot to get the GUI back and check if the blank message appeared in the previous boot.

right, thank you, will do it as soon as I get on my computer.
By the time can I ask if the lie does any important modifications and can cause problems?

Booting to multi-user.target should stop the GUI loading if it started by a display manager.  If X is started automatically at console login it will probably fail due to the missing nvidia modules.
All the changes are limited to that boot and will not persist beyond that.

The problem is, however, that i have 2nd intel graphics card which may actually do the GUI stuff.

Re: [SOLVED] missing error message

As long as the nvidia modules are not loaded for that boot that is enough to test if they are the cause even if the GUI fails.  After you reboot the system will be restored to its previous state and you can check the journal.

Okay, I tried so, when got back to my system with GUI boot (this time), the blank message did not appear. However, instead of it, this happened:

Bluetooth: hci0: Reading supported features failed (-16)

This happened after booting instead of the blank message, kernel error, as well.

Re: [SOLVED] missing error message

I am not familiar with Bluetooth so I do not know if it could be related to blacklisting the nvidia modules.

It would appear the nvidia module is at least needed to produce the message.
Apart the message have you noticed any other issues with 5.11?

Re: [SOLVED] missing error message

The only way I see the nvidia kernel module being connected to a usb communication error (assuming that the BT is on the USB which is common) is a race condition.
Please stop posting random error messages out of context, post the entire system journal.
Out of context, we can only tell *what* that error says, but not why it's there or whether it's relevant for anything (eg. bluetoothd could just knock the device until it responds)
