However when I run a speaker test it plays sound perfectly:

➜ ~ speaker-test -Dhw:0,0 -c2

speaker-test 1.2.5.1

Playback device is hw:0,0
Stream parameters are 48000Hz, S16_LE, 2 channels
Using 16 octaves of pink noise
Rate set to 48000Hz (requested 48000Hz)
Buffer size range from 96 to 16384
Period size range from 48 to 4096
Using max buffer size 16384
Periods = 4
was set period_size = 4096
was set buffer_size = 16384

 1 - Front Right
Time per period = 5.630791
 0 - Front Left

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
George

Re: [Solved] Audio Issues - Dell XPS 9700

I have managed to solved this - For those interested what I did

vim /etc/pulse/default.pa
load-module module-alsa-sink device=hw:0,0
load-module module-alsa-sink device=hw:0,2

I also renamed them:

update-sink-proplist alsa_output.hw_0_0 device.description="Headphone Jack"
update-sink-proplist alsa_output.hw_0_2 device.description="Speakers"

Re: [Solved] Audio Issues - Dell XPS 9700

Hi cachiimp,

i'm having the same issue. My speakers suddenly stopped working.
With your solution, my speakers started to work again. But my internal microphone isn't working.

How did you come to your solution? Do you know why the speakers stopped working in the first place? I think it was after I installed updates via pacman or maybe it was due to a firmware upgrade. I'm not sure.

Re: [Solved] Audio Issues - Dell XPS 9700

Make sure your alsa-ucm-conf is up to date, AFAIK there where some breakages here that got fixed in the latest version. If you do not actually have this specific Dell, please open a new thread.

Re: [Solved] Audio Issues - Dell XPS 9700

Thank you V1del. I just upgrade my packages again and now everything is working fine (even without dachiimp's fix). Great! smile
