[SOLVED] makepkg fails - unknown reason

Hello everyone,

since today the makepkg command seems to fail everytime - no matter what package I try to build. The last step it enters is " -> Correcting permissions" and then I get "==> ERROR: A failure occurred in package().".

I don't have any idea where to start looking for the problem, that's why I'm asking here. Does anyone know where to start looking for the cause of the issue (or already knows what it is and can tell me a possible solution right away)?

I'd be happy to provide any kind of further information, just tell me what you need.

Thanks in advance.

Tedy

Re: [SOLVED] makepkg fails - unknown reason

You need to post a full build log and state an exact sample package you are using: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=57855

If "every package" fails then you likely did something on your system, create an alias or so or mask/shadow a binary makepkg would be using.

Did you edit your makepkg.conf or install some "system" tools outside of the package manager/something that adjusts your  $PATH recently? One thing that's more systemic in nature there was a bison update recently that could be at play here

Re: [SOLVED] makepkg fails - unknown reason

Hi,

sorry for not posting the full build log directly. I tried to install miniconda3 from the aur. I cloned the git repository, changed to the directory and ran makepkg, as I did many times before. Here's the output:

you likely did something on your system

That's what I'm thinking too, but I don't quite know which things influence the process of makepkg, so I don't know where to start searching for the error.

Did you edit your makepkg.conf or install some "system" tools outside of the package manager/something that adjusts your  $PATH recently?

I didn't edit that file. I don't really know what you mean by such tools, but if you mean packages that are not available via pacman then it would be the brave browser and the failed attemps listed above. To my knowledge, my PATH variable has not changed recently, but here is its value:

 /usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/lib/jvm/default/bin:/usr/bin/site_perl:/usr/bin/vendor_perl:/usr/bin/core_perl:/home/{username}/.local/bin

One thing that's more systemic in nature there was a bison update recently that could be at play here

I ran a full system update (pacman -Syu) right before I started getting those errors. I can't tell if bison was among the updated packages though, but if it was updated recently, there's a high chance, cause I updated the system for the first time in three weeks (was on vacation previously).

Re: [SOLVED] makepkg fails - unknown reason

Both of these packages do a chmod on the failing operation. coreutils was recently updated to 9.0 and apparently there's a bug https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/72253 that's fixed in the current coreutils 9.0-2 package from testing.

Re: [SOLVED] makepkg fails - unknown reason

Hi,

thank you for your support. With the patched version of coreutils everything works.
