Major Bugs with Kernel 5.15

Hello,
I am experiencing serious issues with Kernel 5.15 which leave my Laptop unuseable and my Workstation also nearly dead.
On my Laptop (Thinkbook 13s G2 ITL) if I use the 5.15 Kernel (doesn't matter which one) the Laptop is unuseable. X shows glitches and bugs allover and the laptop is in general so slow that it's not possible to do anything else than do a hard shutdown.

On the Dell Workstation (Precision Tower 5810) The PC is completely dead. Black Screen as soon as the bootloader comes up.

My Mediacenter (Thinkstation Tiny 710) the system crashes as soon as ANY desktop effect comes into play.

Anyone else experiencing these issues? If its Just one PC, I would say maybe there's a hardware issue, but all three PCs (and they work fine with 5.10-lts) is highly unlikely to be hardware issues...

Please post the journal from an affected boot from one of the systems.

Re: Major Bugs with Kernel 5.15

I am also experiencing major issues with linux 5.15.5 and 5.15.6 on my Dell Precision 5550 laptop. Gnome does not offer Xorg as an option when logging in with that kernel and my laptop will not resume from sleep.

I also get additional errors when shutting down, such as not being able to unmount old root.

I've checked the logs and there is nothing significant there.

Downgrading to linux 5.14.16 resolves the issues. But it would be nice to figure out what is causing the issues in 5.15 so they can be fixed and I can move forward.

Not related to 5.15 https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/63697
Apart from starting with 5.15 the issues do not seem the same as those experienced by Arsimael.

Please start new threads for your issues,  one issue per thread.  Please do include the relevant logs in you new threads.

Re: Major Bugs with Kernel 5.15

Thanks. I solved my issues by comparing the logs from the two kernels and noticed that nvidia-uvm was being loaded on the new kernel, but failed to load on the old. Blacklisting the nvidia-uvm kernel module has fixed my issues. Not sure if the OP may be suffering from the same issue.

Re: Major Bugs with Kernel 5.15

hi. Sorry for the late response.

The Bugs on my Lenovo Laptop dissapeared with kernel 5.15-6 X is starting and my Laptop is not freezing and showing artifacts.

The workstation is still playing up. Black screen during most of the boot process, but if I wait ~30 seconds the GPU gets initialized, I'm getting a few errors on the screen, but I can boot the system and start working.
I uploaded the logfile but the main error is:

amdgpu 0000:05:00.0: [drm] *ERROR* mstb 00000000c255adee port 5: DPCD read on addr 0x60 for 1 bytes NAKed

Dell Workstation dmesg output

Mediacenter:
No further hangups so far. Works as designed.
