I forced another crash by starting Bitwig - here's the log for that. Definately a cheeky segfault in there.

One thing I don't get - and, perhaps, this is just showing my ignorance - is why, if this is a RAM issue, this happens so consistently. Surely RAM is, you know, accessed randomly?

This could be unrelated, the 495.46 nvidia driver has multiple reports for causing aborts.

Otherwise random access becomes less random when you access more (ie. more RAM demand/pressure makes it more likely to hit the bad module)

OK - that's worth knowing about the nvidia bug.

I have tons of ram in this machine (32Gb) I don't believe I've ever even touched most of it.

Just in case you're interested: I may be close to tracking down the problem. Currently experimenting with BW3 since it seems to be 4.1.x that causes the Xorg problems.
I tried not including some plugins on the system install and it seems like that fixes the problem. I'm now trying to re-introduce them slowly to see if I can identify the cause of the problem.
