I'm experiencing quite a poor network performance in the last few days. It's not specific to Arch, it happens with other systems too. The strange thing is that if i download a big file, like an ISO image, I get normal speed. But while browsing the net I find many sites that time out or pages that don't get to load completely, etc...
This just happens the last few days, so I have two possible reasons:
- My ISP is having problems (though speeds for one download are fine, as I said)
- Servers out there are upgrading to kernel > 2.6.17 and this is causing many problems with the new tcp_window_scaling value. I myself had many problems when I upgraded to 2.6.17 and since then I have tcp window scaling disabled and everything is fine. But if now many servers are upgrading, it might be the cause of all these performance problems.
Anyone else is noticed a poor performance? More time outs, problems loading pages with many images, etc... It happens randomly, and many sites work just fine though.
