Re: corrupt file

Have you updated your pacman database?

pacman -Sy gnome-extra

Have you tried to turn it off and on again?

Re: corrupt file

yes, I did a pacman -Syu just before I did that.  That should have updated it I think.

Re: corrupt file

Do "rm /var/cache/pacman/pkg/dasher-4.0.4-1.pkg.tar.gz", and try again.  It should redownload the package, and all should be well.

Re: corrupt file

It downloaded again, but gave me the same error.  Maybe I will try downloading from a different repository.

Re: corrupt file

Make sure the "desc" file for dasher is correct, here is what the md5sum in it should be:

[chris@marbles ~]$ cat /var/lib/pacman/extra/dasher-4.0.4-1/desc | grep -A1 MD5SUM
%MD5SUM%
e13c121fc20ad818edc676204eb28d3d
[chris@marbles ~]$

EDIT: Thats what I reckon it should be, don't actually know if it is or not.  I'll try and install it later and see if I succeed.

Re: corrupt file

I am having the same problem here.

I tryed changing mirrors, some of them give the corrupted file error, and the other don´t have the file, or something like it.

I am installing dasher from "testing", and I hope i works ok. :?

Re: corrupt file

Nautilus is not working properly. The gnome splash screen freezes when loading nautilus, and after a long time, the splash screen desapears.

I will try updating gnome and gnome-extra from testing. Maybe gnome 2.16 works normally.

It would be nice if dasher problem was resolved, cause I still have time to reinstall arch.

Re: corrupt file

Is Dasher something important for gnome to work? Or it could be ignored during the installation and will not interfere on other things on gnome?

Off: I am almost giving XFCE4 a try. (Never used it)  :?

I hope not, since I have been using ghome without it for a while now.

Re: corrupt file

Thank you davidwillis.

It is not necessary. I installed everything but dasher, and gnome is working perfectly.

I asked gnome-extra in pacman, then when pacman asks if I want to install all packages from gnome-extra, I choose "no", and then pacman asks about wich packages of that list I want to install, listing one by one, I just answered no to 3 that I don´t use, including dasher. (I didn't know that pacman would list one by one  )

I hope this helps other people that are having the same problem. big_smile
