You can use picom, but xfwm4 has a built-in compositor.
xfce4 takes time to show desktop background and runs black for sometime only the panel bar appears befor the desktop
Are the desktop icons visible at this time?
If yes:
What is the wallpaper, and where do you get it from?
Eg. if you're setting a 4k BMP wallpaper from a remote system (webdownload) that's gonna take a while.
If no:
Is "xfdesktop" running at this time?
Or does it restart a lot?

I'm running a very similar setup to yours (XFCE, LightDM, gtk-greeter). I also use picom. A difference between yours and mine is that I have an NVIDIA card. However, I had the exact same issue that you're describing, and this fix from the wiki helped me get rid of it. It's intended to fix an issue with XFCE for a setup with NVIDIA and multiple monitors, but maybe it can work for your situation as well? Do you by any chance happen to have multiple monitors? Could be this works for intel graphics too.
Also to state the obvious here, if you're using Picom, make sure it isn't in conflict with the compositor that comes with XFCE.

You login, that takes 2 seconds, 6 seconds later the xfconf daemon is triggered and 10 more seconds afterwards you've a network connection.
=> How long does it usually take for the wallpaper to appear? On a general note: the system boot takes > 10 seconds to the multi-user.target (what seems slow?) but there're no indications for network issues in that journal.
this result of time is after removing the xf86 package .i did timed every thing from laptop turning on
turning on to login screen = 42 seconds
login to wallpaper appearance = 54 seconds
total time = 1.36 min (turning on to wallpaper appearance)

That sounds more like a general performance issue.

time sudo journalctl -b > /dev/null
Does the same happen w/ the lts kernel?

Does the same happen w/ the lts kernel?
will update
Offline
The long number is Pi, the interesting part is the time it takes to calculate this and this doesn't seem to be a CPU issue.
If the LTS kernel is affected as well, try to disable the (global) network connection.

I hadn't bothered reading this thread, but now that I have, I have the same issue from a cold boot. From a warm reboot, there is no slow start.
Whilst xfce4 wallpaper is starting or waiting to load, I can still use my system normally.
TBH, I've just gotten used to it, but if there's a fix, bonus.

Do you have immediate network in either case? If so, my next best guess is https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Kernel … _KMS_start (though that would imply that on "bad" boots you're also running on eg. the vesa driver…)

are you talking about the network manager , cause i have only my own computer connected to network . should i try to reconnect it . or is is something different that i am not able to understand
Offline

Yes. On all levelsa.
I basically wonder whether xfce4-desktop tries to do some network IO here and times out because of that.
