I just want to say, Arch Linux is only Linux what needs little to zero maintenance, only pacman -Syu is needed, every Sunday smile

Re: why you choose ArchLinux?

first, rolling release is good.

maintaining a rolling release distro is tough, unless with a large, accountable and friendly community. i started with freebsd in 2003, then switched to gentoo in 2004 (oh, i still feel pains recalling it), and then the arch since 2009.

to me, there are two distros world wide: 1. arch, and 2. doesn't matter.

Re: why you choose ArchLinux?

Probably going to mirror what a lot of others have said, but the bit selling point for me is that it's a rolling release. I really like Solus, but I worry about its future and even though it's rolling, I've noticed some software being a few versions behind. Signal for example is still at 5.27 as of a couple days ago. I really wanted to like OpenSUSE, but I hate its software manager.

So that really leaves Arch based distros. They all worked well, but I figure why not just go to the source and run that. The install was pretty straight forward and with the help of the Wiki, quite painless. System has been running great and I really don't know what else I could ask for in a distro.

I am a chronic distro hopper, so by the time you read this I might be on something else tongue  I really do hope Arch puts an end to that exhausting obsession.

It certainly did for me (wouldn't call myself obsessive, though)

Re: why you choose ArchLinux?

Because I think it is the lightest distro with Systemd.
