trouble logging in

so im having trouble logging in as my regular user i can login as root but when i try to login regularly into xfce i get a black screen and booted back to the login. im not sure what the issue could be i haven't updated i mean i update like every other day but the expat lib expat dependency cycle is keeping me from the update currently i do use pamac to keep the system functional but it started after i turned off my computer last night.

i'm able to go further into detail and relinquish a copy of the logs as im not familiar with pastebins . but that all relies on if somebody is willing to come to my aid in this. hope to hear from you on my way to work right now so ill be checking back tonight, thank you all.

You cannot have community-testing and multilib-testing without also having testing. The testing repos are all or nothing.

@slithery my experience so far is probably far from experienced but i "trust" the arch developers to know a bit more than me lol and generally think of full use scenarios....

What does "unchecked testing" mean, exactly? If you removed the two testing repos, did you force downgrade all packages?

no actually i enabled the testing repo as slithery hinted towards. A downgrade would be a learning experience though.

Are you logging into a tty or a DM? If a DM, switch to tty2 and see if you can log in there.

so your issue is not logging in, it's starting your WM/DE. Check the journal.

uh what should i be looking for? im checking the journal and the closest reference would be org.freedesktop and theres the screensaver and a thumbnailer but alas intuition is failing me

So xvnc was running in the background killed that and boom logged in. Weird extreme but ok "if" and its a big one...anyone wanna shed some light on this and help me understand for educational purposes...if possible cuz that's weird like failsafe weird
