I can't get anything except that brain dead black xfce desktop. Version 4.2 installs with no problem, so I will stick with it.

install fam and libexif with:

pacman -S fam libexif

2Shadowhand: xfdesktop package missed a fam as a dependency.
So it doesn't start after a clean arch installation.
thunar built with libexif for displaying thumbnails.

i am having trouble starting terminal-svn from the first link when i open the menu. i get a

Failed to execute default Terminal Emulator.
Input/output error.

dont know exactly whats the problem. maybe something to do with dbus or the latest udev rules which i still havent updated

Thanks for the help! That worked. I now have a working xfce4-svn.

There is only one problem. There is no xfsamba4 network shares browser. And LinNeighborhood isn't in any repository. So, what is an alternative? i can always manually mount shares from the command line and use Thunar to browse the files, but xfsamba was so quick and easy.

You can try searching the aur for "pyneighborhood" or "smbnetfs", alternatives to LinNeighborhood.

Well, I browsed the current repo and found xsmbrowser. xsmbrowser provides the means for me to browse a WinXP shared folder on my network from Arch.

have you used --refresh yet?

Can't wait to get Xfce44RC1 running!  I wonder if it has an easy solution for changing mime-type file icons...
