firefox opens links as new windows
I updated firefox today to version 97.0.1
I have always had it configured to open links as new tabs, however it now opens them all as new windows instead. I've re-checked the settings, and tabs are selected.
Any ideas?
I am using Plasma/i3wm. firefox like this is difficult in a tiled WM.

browser.link.open_newwindow = 3is supposed to redirect new windows into tabs.
this is not working.
browser.link.open_newwindow = 1successfully prevents new windows, however links are opening directly in the parent tab.
