KDE not restoring session no matter what I do

When trying to manually restore session there is no option to save the session
When trying to automatically save the session it also dosen't save (by logging out and logging in)
I installed kde on a different laptop and it works fine, I am going insane

I'd start by looking for errors in the session journal, then the system journal.
The DM might be relevant (notably DM ./. startx) and as for "installed kde on a different laptop": same version of KDE and archlinux etc.?

Then there's wayland ./. X11 and ultimately look into ~/.config/ksmserverrc

Just checking the obvious, are you not able to set it via System Settings -> Desktop Session -> Restore manually saved session?

i can but there is no option to save a session in the power menu

I also deleted all my kde configuration files with no luck
I am using wayland and my other laptop was using x11 so maybe using wayland causes it

Well I have uninstalled kde, so I cannot test this anymore. The only reason I was using kde was becuase I had installed gnome 42 alpha and expected to be able to downgrade but I was unable to (gdm would not start) so I switched to kde. Gnome 42 is finally stable enough for regular usage, so I have switched back.

ok a little while later, I switched back to kde (it's pretty decent now ngl), and this is a known kde bug
