Sudo won't upgrade

Does anyone have any insight on this? Been trying to upgrade sudo and I get a strange error message:

error: could not rename /etc/sudo.conf.pacnew to /etc/sudo.conf (Operation not permitted)
error: problem occurred while upgrading sudo
error: could not commit transaction
error: failed to commit transaction (transaction aborted)
Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.

Version:

sudo -V
Sudo version 1.9.10

Re: Sudo won't upgrade

Post the full output. Pacman doesn't manage pacnew files, that's your job.

Re: Sudo won't upgrade

Ah never, somehow /etc/sudo.conf had become immutable. Weird, it's fixed now. This was a pacman message. Thanks!

Re: Sudo won't upgrade

What did you did to pacman to make it handle pacnew files in the first place?
Whatever it was is a terrible idea and guaranteed to cause your system to break at some point.

No, it didn't "fix" anything. It just shifted the brokeness one space to the right. - jasonwryan
