Installing Wine

Hi everyone. I am a newbie to Arch Linux. I have been able to get Nvidia 470 installed, and my bluetooth works great:),   but I want to install  Wine. I have been looking around for Arch Linux guides on this, but so far not much luck. One of them said   sudo pacman -S wine and to have multilib turned on, but that did nothing. I am checking out the Arch Linux Wine guide, which talks about many things, but nothing about how to install wine?  I wonder if pacman has a search feature, like apt-cache search?

Thanks.

Wine can be installed by enabling the multilib repository and installing the wine (development), wine-stableAUR (stable) or wine-staging (testing) package.

Re: Installing Wine

There is an entire section on Wine installation in Arch Linux.

If, after following this — and only this — guide there are still issues, report exactly what is happening. What are you doing, what errors you get. “Doesn’t work” or “did nothing” is pretty useless if you expect any help.

You have to download/update the multilib database after enabling it

sudo pacman -Syu

I have mutllib on
I did the sudo pacman -Syu to update the datebase
then I ran sudo pacman -S wine
it returned with target not found.
Ty for the help. I am sure we are getting closer to having wine installed

Re: Installing Wine

You are getting closer to reporting exactly what is happening, but I still want to drop this link: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=57855

If you actually enabled multilib (we can't see your pacman.conf), you should see pacman downloading the multilib database when you -Syu (we can't see the output), so do/did you?

Re: Installing Wine

How did you install Arch? What guide did you use?
