I bought a Mudita Pure dumb-phone and it should support USB tethering via an internal Quectel EC25 LTE modem. The modem is recognized by ArchLinux (the corresponding line on lsusb is the following):
Bus 001 Device 014: ID 2c7c:0125 Quectel Wireless Solutions Co., Ltd. EC25 LTE modem
and, using NetworkManager and ModemManager I was able to create a connection (using the command nm-connection-editor) inputting the correct APN. I mainly followed the instruction from this page on the wiki:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Mobile_broadband_modem
The connection is recognized from nm-applet as soon as I activate the tethering from the phone, an IP is assigned but I cannot ping.
Doing some log-reading with journalctl I found 2 messages that seems to be the problem (but of course I'm not sure).
Firstly
Jun 02 17:27:14 trogo pppd[1004]: Could not determine remote IP address: defaulting to 10.64.64.64
and secondly
Jun 02 17:27:15 trogo pppd[1004]: Cannot determine ethernet address for proxy ARP
Any idea or indication is appreciated :-)
