iwctl got borked due to unknown users

Hey guys, I am a very new arch user, and very new to linux as well. I can't trace the reason but suddenly iwctl stopped working. Had to reboot my computer multiple times to get internet working, but iwctl is still not working. I get this while trying to use iwctl:

I had exactly the same issue. I was on iwd 1.23.
Downgrading to 1.21 fixed the issue.

iwd 1.23 did some half baked dbus policy changes. Try to add your user to the "netdev" group.

Yes, this works. I upgraded to 1.23.
I actually found the wiki has been updated (I believe recently):

Note: As of version 1.23, only root and members of the netdev or the wheel user group are allowed to interact with iwd. In order to use iwctl, you need to add your user to one of those groups.

Adding my user to the wheel group and rebooting seems to have fixed the problem.

iwd's quality control seems to have gone down the drain recently. First the maintainers broke an essential command (iwctl station DEVICE get-networks) a few months ago, and now this.

Notably, adding the user to the "netdev" group didn't work for me. Only the "wheel" group did, on iwd 1.28.

Notably, netdev is a Debian System Group. Arch lists the "network" group as unused but it is used by iwd to check for permission, and stated as such under the iwd wiki. This is why the "netdev" group doesn't work, but adding the user to "network" does.
