Howdy folks,
This morning freenx was fine on my Arch box - I could work with it just fine from a XP client. I ran pacman update and there was a kde upgrade along with a few other packages.
After the update, I can connect from XP client and OSX client but I get a black screen with an "X" flashing between mouse movements. It almost looks like some kind of xscreensaver x-org screensaver but xscreensaver it not running. As long as the mouse is moving I have my desktop, but click a button or stop the mouse and I get the funky "X" on a black screen.
Any ideas?

Forgot to add - I can run X fine from a local terminal. No problems there.

Looking at this some more and still baffled. I don't think it was caused by a KDE package, it looks more like an xorg thing. Here is the upgrade list:
All suggestions welcome.

I'm having the exact same issue after the sysupgrade. I've tried
xset s offand
setterm -blank 0Didn't help. Were you able to figure it out?

Well, Ive tried reinstalling freenx - no change. I went through the first level dependencies for freenx and nothing was changed during the upgrade dependency wise. Maybe a dependency of a dependency? Anyway, I can't find any log errors. And I have confirmed my clients work via a connection to a FC 6 computer.
I did notice that the processor percentage is up on nxserver when the blackscreen - white X is up. If I move the mouse around quickly which results in a normal desktop image then the processor percentage drops to nothing. Screwy.

Same experience here. What is that "white X" beast anyway :?: It does look like something from xorg, right? But xorg wasn't affected by the upgrade. Really puzzling...

Yep - looks like an xorg "X". I've done some searching on that but have not turned up anything.

The guy over at gentoo forums reported some strange issues with screensaver after upgrading to KDE 3.5.5 here. So I tend to think that KDE team has introduced a new bug.
I also tried to use Fluxbox instead of KDE session via NX - everything works fine.

Thats good to know - I guess. I have tried other WM's here and am having other issues. Blackbox tries but no real success. I guess I could finish installing gnome for the time being. I'll keep messing with it when I have a chance. I should really be doing other things - like school work. But this is too fun.

Looks like the latest nx upgrades via pacman solved the problem.
Thanks to the devs (all of you) for the job you do.
