A NAS and 2 PC's, howto use the local ssd as cache?

Hi all,

I would like to store my files on a NAS, and then access the files from 2 PC's. The classic way to do this is like this:

NAS with about 2TB of data
| SAMBA
network switch
|
2 Linux PC's
|
Client program

In this setup, each read and write access causes network traffic (except for a very small read cache in the RAM of the Linux PC's). While the network can be fast, it will never be faster than reading and writing to an SSD in the PC. Therefore I would like to build the following setup:

NAS with about 2TB of data
| some protocol
network switch
| 
2 Linux PC's
|
Internal 500MB SSD as cache
|
Client program

How can this be done?

I use neither of those, but you may try your luck with fsc mount option and cachefilesd (cachefilesd PKGBUILD is maintained by grawity in AUR).
