Mr Green

well it is a gnome app, and gnome-session set everything up for you
Freedom is what i love

I do not use gnome (its installed!) banshee would not run without it ;-(
Emm its getting so complicated to run a simple app these days
Mr Green

well dbus is an inter communication protocol, for example you can make gaim talk with banshee and banshee tell xchat what song you are playing.
this is the reason why there must be an user session bus.
Freedom is what i love
Offline
why would I want to tell gaim what song I'm playing? lol
Does nothing run these days without gnome
May as well use Ubuntu (j/k)
So just add dbus to daemons and back in business?

You should use something like this in .xinitrc:
exec dbus-launch --exit-with-session --auto-syntax openbox

thanks.... guess I have to read up on dbus ;-)
